Easy Shrimp Recipes to Make Meat-Less Meals More Fun

Shrimp recipes can make even the most inexperienced cooker look like a Food Network star.

Shrimp is just about the most popular seafood item in the world; just consider all the wonderful Asian favorites. And how about the Mediterranean and Caribbean ones. Certainly the French & the Italians have hundreds (does anyone know of a German or British shrimp recipe?).

Easy shrimp recipes are so-o-o easy to find because they hardly ever take long to cook and most of us love 'em, so there are lots. But few of them take this versatile food beyond "fairly basic" to what you'd consider "exciting".

But, take a quick scroll down the page and you'll see that I've found some really special ways to make shrimp a more frequent guest at your dinner table - ok, you don't eat a "guest", so let's just say, you'll enjoy them more often.

And if these aren’t enough, send me your e-mail address and city of residence, and I’ll happily send you a dozen more plus some fascinating - ok, "interesting" (?) shrimp facts.

TO PRINT A RECIPE:
Found some you want to keep? (I sure hope so.) Just highlight them, then right click, hit "Print", then "Selection", then "OK" . That was easy, wasn't it?
(If this doesn't work, give your printer a good whack with something - like I do. It won't help you print but you might feel better.)

Here is one of my all-time fave shrimp recipes not only because of the wonderful flavor blending vermouth with garlic, lemons and a bit of cayenne, but because of the ease and speed of assembling.

quick cook rice or small pasta
2 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined
1/4 cup each olive oil & butter
1/3 Tbsp black pepper
pinch of salt, cayenne & file'
2 oz dry vermouth
2 lemons, juiced
2 cloves garlic

Cook your choice of rice or pasta.

Meanwhile, saute shrimp in oil, butter, garlic, salt. pepper, cayenne and file'. Add lemon juice and vermouth and continue to cook for another minute or 2.

Serve over rice or pasta.
